SOLD - 1956 Gibson L48

Out of Stock

Product Description

1956 Gibson L48

Sounds and plays great!

Heavy checking - no cracks

Original case included

Gibson’s L-48 guitar came out in 1946 as a slightly less expensive alternative to the famous L-50 which had debuted back in 1932. In those days Gibson often named their guitar with the original list price, and so one can assume that in 1946 this model sold for $48. This is your basic non-cutaway 16” wide f-hole instrument, made from spruce for the top, mahogany for the sides and back of the neck, maple for the back of the neck.  It has a polished black headstock overlay bearing the gold decal Gibson logo and no decoration, only the black bell-shaped truss rod cover held in place by two roundhead Phillips screws.
